Maison Margiela applies a house technique, the trompe lÕoeil, to the Club C Maison Margiela: constructed from a single piece of flat leather, the sneakerÕs one-cut upper is printed with a scanned image of ReebokÕs original Club C shoe. Using trompe lÕoeil Ð a deception of the eye Ð the effect mimics every stitch, curve and shadow of the original 3-D surface, achieving a 2-D optical illusion key to the visual language of Maison Margiela, whose work has historically blurred the lines between truth and artifice.
